Andy & Nancy had such a sweet & intimate celebration in Chicago. These two were born & raised on the same island in the Pacific, but met one another 7,000 miles from home – in the heartland of America. When they first reached out to me, and spoke about their shared Taiwanese background I knew we’d connect right away. I had just finished up spending 2 months of my winter living in Taiwan, traveling the island, eating at night markets, and stumbling through my Mandarin. These two wanted to get married, but knew they couldn’t have all their close friends & family make it to Chicago.
They opted for a very small elopement/wedding, with just 5 of their combined closest family members attending. I’ve teared up a handful of times, thinking of their story. The way they found each other, their family’s first time being in the states – supporting them, starting a new life in a new country, and their immense kindness to me – a stranger at first. We spent a wet & rainy day driving into the city, and capturing their love along the lakeshore of North Avenue Beach. I’d like to share just a handful of their portraits from this special day.
