Marquette, Michigan is home to one of my most favorite landscapes in the country. If you’ve never been to the Upper Peninsula, you may be surprised to find that it’s filled with cliffs overlooking Lake Superior, lots of wildlife, and forests that rival the Pacific Northwest. The first time I visited Presque Isle Park, I knew it would be a dream to photograph a wedding there. You can imagine my excitement when one day I received a message from Britany & Kevin expressing their plans to get married in that very place. Britany & Kevin are caring, gentle souls. Britany was working at a veterinary clinic when a stranger (Kevin) walked in one day with his poor pup Kane who had been in a horrible attack by another dog. Britany saw Kevin show up day after day, diligently loving and caring for Kane throughout his long rehabilitaion. Needless to say she fell in love with his loving spirit over those many visits, and the rest is history. They celebrated their day with a first look on the cliffs of Black Rocks, tied the knot in the woods of Presque Isle (including a unity beer pouring), stopped for more drinks at the famous Black Rocks Brewery, and then partied the night away at Ore Dock Brewing Company. I loved so much spending the day with them (and very-good-boy Kane). Special thanks to Noah Prefontaine for 2nd shooting on this amazing trip!
